Scholarship

SHABE has successfully raised money for a scholarship fund. During our SHABE Teacher of the Year Banquet to be held on April 13, 2012, we will honor at least two (2) high school graduating seniors with a $500.00 scholarship to attend the University of their choice.

The qualifications for the scholarship are:
             • Student must be a graduating senior from a district that is affiliated with SHABE.
             • Student must meet one of the following criteria:
                    o Wish to become a bilingual or ESL teacher
                    o Was instructed in a bilingual or ESL classroom at any point during their academic schooling.

All applications must be typed (or neatly printed using black ink) with no section left blank. Essays must:
            • Be 2-3 pages long
            • Be double spaced, using 12-point font
            • Adhere to the writing prompt
            • Not exceed 3 pages in length

Please distribute the application to all candidates who meet one of the above criteria’s and return the completed applications to:

Applications must be postmarked by March 9, 2012. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered. Winning students are requested to be at the SHABE Teacher of the Year Banquet on April 13, 2012. All students who enter will be notified of the SHABE Board’s decision via e-mail prior to March 30, 2012.
