Board Positions

Dear SHABE Members,  
We are excited to announce a call for nominations for our 2012-2013 SHABE Executive Board. 

We are looking for dedicated professionals that want to get involved and make a difference in our educational communities. 

As you know, the Suburban Houston Association for Bilingual Education (SHABE) exists to support teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators as they educate students whose native language is not English.  Here are some of the activities and initiatives SHABE is involved with:

  • SHABE Breakfast-Professional Development
  • Winter Mini-conference-Professional Development
  • SHABE Social-A Meet and Greet Event
  • SHABE Banquet-Celebrates and Honors Bilingual/ESL TOY
  • High School Student Scholarships
  • Paraprofessional Scholarships
SHABE is an organization that welcomes the ideas and expertise of its members. It is an organization that is flexible enough to be infused with new ideas on initiatives and activities such as the ones mentioned above. 

With that in mind we would like to invite you or someone you know to be nominated for a position as a SHABE board member.

Here is the process that will be used for the nomination and election process: 

  • To nominate yourself or someone else, contact SHABE with the nominee’s name and contact information by February 26th.
  • Nominees will be contacted during the week of March 5th to see if they accept their nomination. 
  • Voting will be held online starting March 9th to the 25th. (Log in procedure will be emailed to you)
  • March 25th – Voting completed and nominees will be notified of the results
  • April 13th – 2012 – 2013 Board Officers to be announced at the banquet
